Grand Massif Samoëns Morillon France

Our family of four from Taiwan had a good stay here in mid July. We have stayed at all three Club Med resorts in Hokkaido Japan multiple times, so it was interesting to compare.

The good: the views were spectacular, particularly at sunset. There are many varieties of activities on offer, many free, and good for both adults and kids.

The facilities were generally nice - the lobby lounge for gold members, the indoor and outdoor pools, the buffet restaurant area, and ease of parking (that you have to pay for).

Even though it's up on the mountain, it's never more than a quick 30 min drive away from many of the sites and activities around Samoëns and Morillon, so the location was great.

Shout out to the young sound engineer from Italy who joined us for dinner one evening, it was great to chat.

The bad: the elevators are few, small and slow for the number of rooms and guests onsite. The bar at times had too few bartenders on staff, the poor souls who worked the bar were great but were clearly overwhelmed at times.

The food at the buffet was adequate at best, slightly disappointing. Definitely not up to Japan Club Med standards.

The ugly: we had clearly reserved and requested interconnected rooms for the family. Upon arrival, we found our rooms were entirely separate, and the front desk insists that they did not see the request for interconnected rooms, and that it would be a $360 Euros additional charge to "upgrade". Even if it was some kind of error or bug with the Club Med reservation system, the bad attitude from the reception staff towards their gold members in handling this issue was appalling.

On top of which, the rooms had no air conditioning, and some rooms didn't cool down at night even with the windows open all night. At this price point, these issues were unexpected and left a bad impression to otherwise a great location.

We had a great family stay at the resort! The food was delicious with an amazing variety, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the hospitality was excellent. We also loved the hiking activities. We’re already looking forward to coming back during the skiing season. Highly recommended!

Incredible experiences thx a lot !!

We returned from the resort a week ago and had a wonderful time. We have been to this Club Med several times before and have never been disappointed. We always enjoy the stunning views, hikes , mountain biking, the food and ambiance. This year was exceptional due to the amazing chef de village, Trishi and his team. Also, big thank you to Anita and her very friendly team from the restaurant and to Fabio the sound engineer who always made time in his day to catch up with us.
